Pixelline on the TV Awards
Back to Headlines

Entec - The 2003 Television Awards

Entec supplied lighting equipment to production company Indigo for the 2003 National TV Awards at the Royal Albert Hall. It's the ninth year running they've serviced the high profile event, presented by Trevor MacDonald and broadcast live on ITV1. Lighting designer/director was Brian Pearce, the set was designed by Richard Plumb director was Russell Norman.

James Thomas's Pixelline fixtures were used as ground cyc up-lighters for the main screens at the rear of the set. The screens were made from twin white cyc material, with a silver lattice trussing effect fixed to the front. The idea was that these were lit with plain washes of colour in keeping with the lighting aesthetic of the show, which was understated, straightforward and non-glitzy.

Entec - The 2003 Television Awards

Brian Pearce has used Pixelline many times before in different ways and on a variety of shows and comments, "They are a lovely lamp". For the TV Awards, he harnessed the power of the Pixelline for subtle but rich illumination effects travelling up the cyc.

Other fixtures included Vari*Lites, conventional cyc units and assorted generics. The lighting was operated by Ian Reith using a Virtuoso console.
