Entec Turns up Heat for Bumper Weekend
Back to Headlines

Entec sound & Light sampled international sounds and flavours from three continents last weekend, servicing four different events around the country as Britain sizzled during the hottest weekend for many years!

Ascot Live

For the latest Ascot race meeting, Entec supplied the Ascot Live after-race live entertainment with a sound and lighting system, for two days of performances headlined by the James Taylor Quartet and the Human League. It's the fourth year Entec has supplied the technical infrastructure for this event to production company Make It Happen Productions led by Louise Burton.

The sound system featured a flown d&b C4/B2 speaker system, with Entec APW monitors, d&b C7 side fills and two Midas XL3 consoles with stretches at both FOH and monitors. FOH engineer was Marc Langley and John Roden mixed monitors.

Lighting consisted of six MAC 250s, a selection of generics and an Avolites Pearl, run by Steve Major.

Southwark Park Gala

Across the other side of London, 9 Below Zero and Chas & Dave headlined this well attended 2-day Southwark Council event staged in Southwark Park, London SE16.

Audio was a d&b C4/B2 system, complete with Midas XL200 at FOH and a Soundcraft SM16 onstage, plus an Entec APW monitor system. It was engineered by Donnard Duffy (FOH) and Stuart Turville on monitors. Entec also supplied lighting for the main stage, and smaller sound systems for two other band stages around the site.

Toast New Zealand, Syon Park, Isleworth

This popular food, wine and cultural event attracted vast crowds and featured performers from New Zealand including Ryan Edwards & Fat Freddie's Drop, who played the main stage, using a d&b C7 sound system and Entec APW monitors. Both FOH sound and monitors were run off a Soundcraft SM12 desk located side stage, mixed by Julian Chabert.

For the Street Theatre stage, Entec supplied d&b Max speakers and a Soundcraft Folio desk. Additionally, in the VIP marquee, a d&b E3 speech system was used by Helen Clark, New Zealand premier and minister for Arts, Culture & Heritage .. among other speechmakers.

Catering Africa, Esher Rugby Club

Down the road in Hersham, Surrey, this event took the format of a beer and culture festival featuring cuisine and alcohol from the African continent. Starring African-Irish showband the Balarney Brothers on the main stage, there were also plenty of side events and stalls. Sound was delivered through a d&b C4 system with B2 subs, driven with a Yamaha 02R 96 digital console, engineered by Nigel Waterfall and Julian Lodge.

also ...

Whilst all that was going on, Entec Sound is also on the road with King Crimson and Alanis Morrissette in Europe, supplying monitors, control and technicians for both tours. Around the UK, they are gigging with the Bootleg Beatles as well as supplying various elements to Blur's ongoing world tour - currently in USA.
