d&b audiotechnik has been developing, manufacturing and distributing loudspeaker systems since 1981. The company operates internationally in the field of electro acoustics to produce high quality products for reinforcement of speech and music. Through the amalgamation of technological developments, system integration principals, quality of construction and standards of service, d&b audiotechnik right from the outset realized a concept that includes all aspects of design, development, manufacture and support: the d&b system reality. d&b audiotechnik's loudspeakers are used globally in rental and installation markets for events, multimedia, musicals, concert halls, theatres, opera houses, broadcast, houses of worship, and everything from the smallest conference room to the largest stadium.

Black Range (Touring)

V Series

The d&b V-Series with its remarkable clarity as well as extraordinary dynamic bandwidth, impressive power capability and headroom make it not only a highly efficient and flexible stand-alone system ranging from small to large configurations, but having the same driver arrangement and horizontal dispersion it is the veritable complement to the J-Series. The V-Series consists of the V8 and V12 loudspeakers and the actively driven high performance cardioid V subwoofer, which are all matched and constructed to be mechanically compatible both in flown or ground stacked arrays. All the components needed to suspend the loudspeakers within the three-point V-Series flying system are integrated into the cabinets, ensuring speedy deployment, providing a quick and easily configurable line array.

The V8 is a 3-way passive design housing 2 x 10" LF drivers, one hornloaded 8" MF driver and two 1.4" exit HF compression drivers with 2.5" voicecoils mounted to a dedicated wave-shaping device. The symmetrical dipolar arrangement of the neodymium LF drivers around the centrally mounted coaxial MF and HF components allows a smooth overlap of the adjacent frequency bands in the crossover design. This results in an exceptional 80° horizontal constant directivity dispersion control nominally being maintained down to 250 Hz. The mechanical and acoustical design enables flown vertical arrays of up to twenty four loudspeakers. It can be used in columns of purely V8 loudspeakers or combined with V12s and / or with V-SUBs.

T Series

The T-Series is intentionally designed to address an extremely wide range of small to medium sized applications from multiple cabinet line arrays through to single standalone loudspeakers for deployment in locations sharing the same fundamental requirements, to achieve precise control of directivity and maintain this to the lowest possible frequency. A combination of techniques is used; dipolar low frequency driver arrangements, low compression venting with high excursion drivers and a unique combination of a rotatable waveguide horn and acoustic lens. The unobtrusive visual design, compact dimensions, light weight, high power and exemplary directivity performance not only embodies the d&b system reality but makes the T-Series loudspeakers the perfect option for speech and music.

J Series

The high output J-Series reaches into large-scale sound reinforcement situations,extending further the spectrum of applications d&b systems embrace.The transparent and detailed audio performance with extraordinarily smooth and even frequency response, dynamic bandwidth, extreme high power and headroom capabilities, makes the J-Series the ultimate choice for the far-reaching reinforcement of any sound genre. The J-Series consists of the J8 and J12 loudspeakers with the J-SUB cardioid subwoofer and J-INFRA that are acoustically matched and constructed to be mechanically compatible both in flown or ground-stacked arrays. The high fidelity J-Series, pushing all the boundaries of the d&b maxim; to maintain the compatibility and sound character throughout all systems.

Q Series

The Q-Series continues the established d&b audiotechnik approach to the design and manufacture of loudspeaker systems. It is designed for a wide range of small to medium scale applications and a clear perspective to provide flexible, configurable array solutions to the most arduous sound reinforcement situations. They are ideal for situations using numerous open microphones and where considerable gain before feedback is required for speech and music; in theatre, presentations, broadcast productions and orchestral events.

C Series

The C4 system represents an advanced, compact and efficient sound reinforcement concept. It has been specifically optimized for array configurations and high sound pressure levels. Applications range from professional touring industry use and large scale sound system installations, down to a single box set up requiring narrow dispersion over a wide frequency range with minimum dimensions. The sound of the C4 system provides the engineer with an efficient tool and a neutral platform allowing him to create his specific sound with minimal effort.

The C7 system has been specifically optimized for small and medium sized configurations with high SPL capabilities. Applications range from touring and production use to installations where medium to long throw and controlled dispersion over a wide frequency range is required. This is achieved through meticulous care in developing the individual components, together with d&b's unique design approach, based on a holistic view of the interaction between loudspeaker and electronics. This approach results in a system with far greater linearity than would otherwise be achievable. C4 & C7 cabinets can be powered by both the D12 amplifier or by the D6 power amplifier controller.

Considered to be the industry benchmark, the B2 subwoofer with its high output bandpass horn design and extremely high SPL is ideal for extended bass requirements. It is configurable to be either an infrabass for the C4 system or a high output, alternative subwoofer for the C7 systems. When used with a C4 system, d&b recommend a ratio of four C4-SUBs to one B2.

The B2 cabinet is constructed from marine plywood, has an impact resistant paint finish and eight integral steel handles. The front of the subwoofer cabinet is fitted with catches at the sides for securing an optional transport lid and mounted on the rear are four heavy duty wheels. The B2 is driven by the d&b D12 dual channel amplifier.

E Series

High output and performance levels, ultra compact design and a choice of formats ensure that the d&b E-Series has the answers for a wide variety of production requirements. Visually discreet and easy to operate, the E-Series offers elegant solutions for speech reinforcement with high intelligibility, as well as music reinforcement with or without subwoofers. A huge range of fittings and accessories form part of the system, resulting in exceptional rigging versatility.

Monitors

With monitoring, even small irregularities in performance or consistency can have problematic consequences for the artist and the success of a production. That is why d&b has always maintained, there should be no difference in sound quality between the front of house system and the monitor system. The actively crossed over M2 can only be driven by the more powerful dual channel D12.
The MAX and MAX12 can be driven by 3rd party amplifiers.

Amplifiers

Positioned at the very heart of the d&b System reality, the D6 and D12 amplifiers not only power, they comprehensively control d&b's loudspeakers by using Digital Signal Processing (DSP) to provide loudspeaker configurations, functions and sophisticated protection. Both channels of the D6 and D12 have user definable 4-band parametric equalization and delay capabilities, while d&b Load monitoring and System check are incorporated to monitor driver condition. The amplifiers are equipped with analogue and AES/EBU digital signal inputs with digital elements specified and constructed to achieve audio performance meeting, or exceeding, that of analogue devices. This comprehensive functionality of d&b's amplifiers can also be accessed via d&b's R1 Remote network.

Remote

The d&b Remote network allows control and monitoring of d&b loudspeakers from a virtual centre within a complete application, be this a PC in the control room, at the mix position or a wireless tablet PC in the auditorium. The Remote interface fitted to all d&b amplifiers is the prerequisite to unlocking the full potential of the d&b System reality. Operation and control can be undertaken on loudspeakers and amplifiers individually, or on multiple groups of loudspeakers, either at the set-up, during the show itself or even more remotely when creating an application in advance. This comfortable system control not only saves time, resources and energy, but also helps to concentrate on the ultimate target: democracy for listeners.

White Range (Installation)

The White range is designed for visual, physical, acoustical and electrical integration into permanently installed applications and is intended for environments that go beyond the rider driven specifications that are generally used in performance spaces. The range consists of two Series, the xS-Series and xA-Series, both including very compact loudspeakers and matching subwoofers, which bear the same exacting qualities of the established d&b audiotechnik products. Acoustically they produce a consistent neutral sound and coupled with physically discreet mounting hardware the deployment possibilities are extensive, whether indoors or outdoors. Both Series can be driven by either the D6 or D12 amplifiers that along with the d&b Remote network enables control and monitoring of a large number of system functions or integration into other media environments.

xS Series

The xS-Series comprises of seven loudspeakers and three matching subwoofers which are designed for use in stand-alone applications. The loudspeakers are spread over a broad range of sizes and output powers and share the same clean and unobtrusive industrial design to which discreet specialized hardware fittings are attached. Both cabinets and accessories are also available with either a weather resistant or special colour option. Rotatable horns deliver additional flexibility in terms of mounting options for the loudspeakers. The xS-Series not only maintains the d&b System reality but embodies the d&b holistic approach to sound reinforcement solutions; integrating loudspeakers, electronics, mechanical deployment assemblies and remote control functions.

xA Series

The xA-Series comprises of four loudspeakers and two matching subwoofers that are mechanically arrayable and share the same clean and unobtrusive industrial design. The cabinets are equipped with an integrated rigging system for the design of vertical arrays providing application specific dispersion and coverage characteristics. Both cabinets and accessories are also available with either a weather resistant or special colour option. A direct radiating LF/MF is utilized in combination with different HF dispersion technologies including line source waveguides. The xA-Series not only maintains the d&b System reality but embodies the d&b holistic approach to sound reinforcement solutions; integrating loudspeakers, electronics, mechanical deployment assemblies and remote control functions.

Finance Series

The d&b Finance-Series assists in the purchase of d&b systems by businesses and other organizations to further the development and realization of their visions. Once the equipment is defined to achieve these objectives, the subsequent process is how best to integrate their finance into the plans. The Finance-Series is exclusively designed to support this endeavour. Agreements have competitive interest rates and can cover a wide range of values and periods, dependent on country specific rules. The Finance-Series comes as another part of the d&b System reality and is offered in a selection of countries by the d&b audiotechnik Distribution using relevant languages and currencies.
The d&b audiotechnik Finance-Series is a purchase contract with an agreement for payment in instalments. Coupling variable finance values with periods that can be individually selected at the outset, results in a concise flexible scheme that can be customized to individual requirements.
From the start the equipment covered by a Finance-Series agreement is an asset of the company making the purchase. This means an investment into a new d&b loudspeaker system improves fixed assets and provides additional income, which from the bank's point of view are real benefits. Interest incurred by the instalment agreement as well as depreciation, can usually be offset to reduce tax liabilities. Furthermore, as the Finance-Series uses the equipment as the security for the asset purchase it does not compromise financial status; using it to integrate a purchase does not diminish short term liquidity or lines of credit.

Education

Workshops: The real world of d&b audiotechnik's System reality. These Workshops are open to anyone who wants to attend. They provide in depth product information as well as hands on sessions, enabling the attendee to have a basic understanding of d&b's systems. The Product workshop, Remote network workshop and Line array workshop cover a day each and are available either as individual sessions or as a package that gives you the possibility to attend all three of them in one visit. The J-Series workshop is not available as part of this package as it covers two days.

Seminars: The theory and its practicality in achieving superior sound in the real world. The Sound Optimisation seminar covers two days and is presented in English in Stuttgart, Germany. It is open to anyone who wants to attend and is focused on optimising the designed sound system to achieve the best acoustic performance using computer based measurement systems. The Electroacoustic seminar takes place one day a month in Gloucestershire. The focus is on achieving intelligibility, if you're passionate about sound, then you want to get good quality, intelligible sound to every seat in the house.
